At Couch, we make the world’s best guitar straps — stylish, durable, cruelty free — and ship them to your door worldwide every day. Our straps have been on stage and in the rehearsal room since 1999, so we know they work properly and last. We still use our own Couch straps from way back when.
How It Started
In 1991, Founder Dan Perkins was in a band called Lo-Fi Champions and needed a strap for his Fender Telecaster. He couldn't find one that fit with his aesthetic, so he made it his mission to craft one for himself. He knew he was going to need a good sewing machine to make one, so he gave up his apartment and crashed on a friends COUCH to save up for his own Pfaff industrial sewing machine. Soon enough, friends started asking him to make guitar straps for their guitars too, and COUCH Guitar Straps was born!

Since day one, Couch products have always been vegan, made in America, and often made from found and repurposed auto upholstery vinyl. We often scour through old dusty warehouses to find some of this incredibly rare and unique materials - Like vintage GTO, Mustang, or El Camino vinyl. A lot of the materials we use are dead stock - meaning they were intended for use in cars or old sofas, but never made it onto the factory line. Instead, it sat in a warehouse for years and years until we got our hands on it and transformed it into the amazing guitar straps you see today.

Today Couch is a state-of-the-art California workshop where 8 guitar playing and designing friends work together to make your strap, wallet, or belt. Couch is way down the path and solid on our feet, with a real vision and history of design, production, innovation and ethical sourcing, as well as a strong history of connection with you. Ultimately, who Couch is, is our connection with you.
